Chris and Clayton Griggs, known collectively as The Griggs Brothas are designers and creative consultants rooted in New York City, but their creative talents extend far beyond it. Under their brand, The Griggs Brothas move between product design, brand consulting, and creative activations—always with culture at the center.

Guided by a deep respect for different cultures, heritage, and individuality, the twin brothers have built a body of work that feels both authentic and expansive.

Over the years, their distinctive style has led to collaborations with global brands including Nike, Ralph Lauren, and New Balance. Yet recognition has never been the end goal. For the Griggs Brothas, the work has always been about creating with purpose and leaving space for others to see themselves reflected in fashion.

An Early Foundation

Their love for fashion began in high school, where they were given the rare opportunity to explore creativity without limitation. Attending a school that encouraged self-expression, Chris and Clayton helped establish a student-led fashion program designing garments from scratch and even presenting them in a community fashion show.

That experience shaped how they see fashion to this day: not as something exclusive or distant, but as something participatory and deeply personal. “Fashion is for everyone”, they say simply and this belief is what continues to guide their work.

As designers and creative consultants, their practice is intentionally hybrid. One moment they’re developing products for established brands; the next, they’re leading creative activations or helping collaborators translate abstract ideas into tangible form. Their process involves exploring what a brand stands for and finding the most honest way to express it.

When asked about their creative process, they keep it light. Not everything can be revealed or easily explained but their inspiration comes from being present. Family, friends, lived experiences, and nature all play a role. For them, inspiration shouldn’t be forced, but  received.

Success, in their view, isn’t measured by scale or visibility. It’s measured by follow-through. Setting goals. Completing them. This mindset also applies to caring for themselves amid a never-ending pace of work. “Taking care of yourself is a daily thing. You gotta find something you enjoy doing, so it doesn’t feel like work. We really enjoy what we do and the process of creating products and helping friends and brands see their vision through.” 

Community First

We asked the The Griggs Brothas what is the most rewarding part of running their  brand? They replied: “Seeing your work exist in the world and watching people wear our designs with pride.” And when asked how do they keep up with customers, they explained, “Staying connected to that community happens naturally through social media, word of mouth, and most importantly, proximity to the community we are selling to”.

The experience they want people to have goes beyond clothing. It’s about living fully, traveling and  learning. By understanding different cultures and ways of life, fashion, in this sense, becomes a bridge to those cultural and lived experiences.

They don’t over-complicate their philosophy. One phrase they often come back to captures it perfectly: “Hope isn’t a strategy,” a reminder shared by their close friend, Abhi Chandra.
